Projects & Milestones
Organize work toward larger goals with projects and milestones.
Creating a Project
Navigate to the Projects page and click New Project. Give it a name, description, and optional lead assignee. Projects can be linked to a team but can also span multiple teams.
Project Status
Projects have five statuses:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Planning | Scoping and design phase |
| Active | Work is in progress |
| Paused | Temporarily on hold |
| Completed | All work is done |
| Cancelled | Project was stopped |
Milestones
Break a project into phases with milestones. Each milestone has a name and a target date. The project detail page shows milestones on a timeline with progress indicators.
Progress Tracking
Velocity automatically computes project progress from the status of linked issues. The progress bar shows the percentage of issues in the “completed” status group. The project list page shows a compact progress bar for each project.
Adding Issues to Projects
From the issue detail panel, set the Project field to link an issue to a project. You can also use the context menu on any issue to quickly assign it. All linked issues appear on the project detail page.
Cycles
Cycles are time-boxed iterations (sprints) that belong to a team. Create a cycle from the Cycles page with a start date, end date, and name.
Add issues to a cycle to plan your iteration. Velocity generates a burndown chart with daily snapshots showing remaining vs. ideal progress. Cycles are automatically categorized as Upcoming, Active, or Completed based on dates.
